The Special Education department at Olympic High School utilizes the full-inclusion model where students with learning disabilities are not removed from their classes for special services. Instead, students remain in class for the full instructional period and receive additional services integrated into all lesson plans.
The Special Education teachers collaborate in general education classrooms where they are able to modify curriculum, differentiate instruction, and meet the needs of our community of diverse learners. Additionally, they provide input on curriculum and help strategize ways to make the curriculum accessible for all of our students.
The Special Education teachers are also Case Managers and work diligently to ensure Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals are met and that the accommodations and modifications stipulated on their IEPs are being provided in their various classroom settings.
